This Large Caltagirone Holy Water Font, Madonna of Valderice in Mother of Pearl, Gold and Lustre, Limited Edition is a rare and precious piece: the Madonna of Valderice is hand-painted seated in a country landscape, with a basket in her lap, beside the Child holding a bunch of wheat ears. The drawing is in brown tones on an antiqued ivory ground, the halos are in gold, and the scroll frame, the crown and the basin are enriched with applied pearls in copper and gold luster, which change their reflections with the light. The limited edition makes it a collector's piece of great devotional and artisan value.
