This Extra Large Caltagirone Holy Water Font, Nativity with Angels in Mother of Pearl, Gold and Lustre brings the devotion of Caltagirone's artisan ceramics into the home in its largest size and its most precious finish: the Nativity, with the Madonna bending over the Christ Child and Saint Joseph standing beside her, while two kneeling angels hold up the Child on a cloth. The scene is hand-painted in brown tones on an antiqued ivory ground, with gold halos; the scroll frame, the crown and the basin are enriched with applied beads in copper and gold lustre that change their reflections with the light.
