The Caltagirone ceramic Trinacria Centerpiece, Antique Mother of Pearl, Gold and Lustre is shaped and decorated by hand by Ceramiche Sofia: a low, round bowl whose straight side is adorned with trinacrias in relief, the symbol of Sicily with a face at the center and three bent legs. The legs are in gold and the face stays in the antiqued white; the ivory glaze has a brown patina that settles around the reliefs. The rim is in gold, edged with red lustre lines, and a red lustre band runs around the base.
