The Testa di Moro (Sicilian Moor's Head) Woman with Lemons H 40 cm / 15¾", Colored Mother of Pearl is shaped and painted by hand by Ceramiche Sofia in Caltagirone. The face, in glossy ivory glaze, has gray-blue eyes, red lips and a fringe of black hair; the veil and the crown are in antique mother of pearl, with the brown patina in the recesses. On the forehead there is a lily-shaped ornament with a white pearl and a red drop; on one side of the head and at the neck there are yellow lemons with green leaves, shaped in relief, and a necklace of white and red pearls.
