The production times of the product vary from 10 to 20 days , depending on the availability and the complexity of the workmanship. Each item is made to order , especially for you, following an artisanal process that values attention to detail and the use of high-quality materials. This approach allows us to offer you a unique product , which reflects the care and passion of true craftsmanship. Choosing a customized product means accepting slightly longer production times, but with the certainty of receiving an exclusive and unrepeatable object .
Oil lamps were present in every home until the end of the 19th century, their production declined with the appearance of oil lamps and ceased completely with the advent of electric light. In stately homes the lamps were made of bronze or copper on a high foot, while in poor homes they were made of terracotta. The most common shape of terracotta lamps was that of a small circular basin with a spout at the rim. A first transformation took place in the Middle Ages: a high support with a small circular handle was applied to the tray; this allowed for ease of grip, the support kept the flame high. This form remained unchanged over time, especially in the factories of western Sicily, such as Palermo, Sciacca and Trapani.

For almost 20 years Sofia La Maiolica of Caltagirone has been involved in the artisanal production of unique majolica pieces, decorated and modeled by hand. They are inspired by the classic style of Caltagirone ceramics from all eras, made with unique glazes that recall the origins of the oriental world in which the colors were produced by the fusion of kaolin-based glazes. The manufacturing process that leads to the creation of our ceramics is divided into six important phases:
Turning, Drying, First firing, Enamelling, Decoration and Aging .
For each of these phases we dedicate the utmost care to every detail so that the final product is the result of a unique, inimitable and unaltered work over time. The main feature of purchasing a non-industrial product is precisely this: owning a unique product .
